BFFL's end of season stats & stuff

This is normally the time the pre-game thread is posted. Kind of hard to believe it will be another six months until meaningful baseball is played in Pittsburgh.

The 2016 edition of the Pittsburgh Pirates will go down as a rather large disappointment. I am not going to get into why I was disappointed, I do that enough in the comments section.

You all know I keep a spread sheet each year and this is my chance to share the numbers with you.

The Pirates finished 3rd in the NL Central, 5.5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Chicago Cubs won the division with a record of 103-58, while the St. Louis Cardinals finished in second place with a record of 86-76.

  • Foo & Macchamp have determined the Pirates will have the 13th selection in the 2017 MLB Draft.
  • Congratulations to BFFL who won JAL's annual prediction contest.
  • Congratulations to Absolute59, winner the of PBC Asylum Fantasy Baseball League.

Foo has taken the liberty to provide us with a survey. If you would like to take it, please click here.

As always, if you missed JAL's Morning Links, just click here.

On a personal note, I want to thank all of you for the ideas and support you have provided this year. I really enjoy doing this, even though it's not always easy to juggle with work and travel. I also want to thank JAL for stepping in when I am not able. I have made a lot of friends here, many who I have met, and truly value those friendships. I look forward to spending the 2017 season with you all. If your travels take you to or through NC Illinois on Interstates 80 or 39, please let me know.
