Francisco Liriano won the Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year and he was joined by fellow Pirates Mark Melancon and Marlon Byrd at the top of the list. I do not think you can give Neal Huntington much credit for Byrd as he had already broken out by the time he was acquired but those were some pretty shrewd moves to get the first two guys. Of course if they had the opposite of this award... maybe called the "Fallback Player of the Year" I think Brandon Inge may have won that.
