Pedro's Payday----How much will it be?

Pedro Alvarez Pedro Alvarez #17 of the Pittsburgh Pirates sits in the dugout prior to the game against the Cincinnati Reds on August 3, 2010 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

So Pedro is going to eligible for his first year of salary arbitration in 2014.  The obvious question is how much is he going to get.  I took an look at what some other all star type players got in their first year of salary arbitration and their statistics in the two years before arbitration. (I did not include any Super 2's or 1st year arbitration eligible players who signed long term deals.)   When looking at these other players keep in mind Pedro's statistics the last two years.

As you can see the majority of the salaries for the 1st year eligible solid/all star type position players is in the 3-4M range.  (One thing that sticks out at me it is seems like Choo should be looking for a new agent.  With those numbers and the very high WAR he should have gotten more than 3.97M.)

Pedro, will probably get more based on the the fact he has put up two years with very big HR and RBI numbers whereas most of the other guys with the exception of Fielder did not .  My guess is that Pedro is going to be somewhere in the 3.75-4.0M range for 2014.
