Harper or McCutchen
Grantland has a very thorough piece up that ranks MLB players by trade value. It goes through the top 50 and while two Bucs made the list a third came in at 51 so maybe it will look at little better next year. Of course three in the top 51 isn't too shabby. The three Pirates listed are the same three I said earlier would be the only three I would sign to long-term extension (well McCutchen is already there) and this ranking kind of backs up my thought process. Only extend your truly elite talent. Here is the story:

The exciting part for Pirates fans is that Andrew McCutchen is ranked second overall behind Mike Trout and sadly I do not think there is a lot of debate there. Trout is a different animal (see what I did there?) all together.
However, I was a little surprised to see Andrew ranked ahead of Bryce Harper but that just shows you how baseball folks view him. It is a pretty good debate though... who would you rather have... Harper or McCutchen?
