Pirates Player Predictions - Charlie Morton

Today we move along to another member of the rotation.  Charlie Morton comes into the season pretty much considered the team's number three starter behind Gerrit Cole and Francisco Liriano.  He only pitched 119 innings last year due to Tommy John surgery which he had at the mid-point of the 2012 season.  After a very rough start to his career he rebounded very nicely in 2011 only to deal with injuries as the season closed out.  Then the Tommy John in 2012 so it is difficult to say what he will be for sure.

He did return quite strong in 2013 posting career bests in most categories.  While this happens sometimes with TJ surgery it is not really the norm as most pitchers take a few months to get back to normal.  What does Steamers think about Charlie and his 2014 prospects?

ERA - 3.91
WHIP - 1.36
IP - 182
K's - 124
W - 12
L - 11
GS - 31

So Steamers thinks he'll stay healthy and put up a season really similar to 2011.  Hey, that wouldn't be too bad out of your number three starter and depending on how the rest of the rotation does that should keep them in a playoff hunt.  But that's their projections... what do you think?
