Pirates Make Roster Cuts

First off, credit to Digital Dan for the graphic.  It made me laugh so thought I'd push it to the top.

I hate to bump the Morning Links down but we will be at 200 comments by 10 AM at the current rate with some news coming out this morning.  You can still find them very easily as per usual they are great.

The Pirates made some roster moves today.  The following players were optioned to the minors (all to Indy):

- Andrew Lambo
- Jaff Decker
- Jared Hughes

Lambo was the only surprise although in the last week the level of surprise was greatly reduced.  The following group were mostly non-roster invitees that were sent to Minor League Camp:

- Zach Thornton
- Adam Wilk
- Jay Jackson
- Daniel Schlereth
- Robert Andino
- Michael Martinez
- Omar Santos

I would not be surprised to see Thornton, Schlereth, Andino, or Martinez at some point this year depending on their contracts and injuries.  I definitely expect to see Lambo, Decker, and Hughes at some point even if it is not until late in the year.

Andrew Lambo had a clean shot at the 1st base platoon heading into the season but lost that job and it appears Travis Ishikawa has won the right to share the bag with Gaby Sanchez.  I'm sure Gaby has earned more at bats as well.  Ok, maybe he fell into them.

Pirates play the Jays today at 1:05 with Wandy finally getting his start.  Here are a couple stories on the cuts:
