  • Jung-Ho Kang returned from his injury and hit six home runs.
  • The Pirates trailed the Cubs by three games on May 1st. On June 1st, they trail by 6.5 games.
  • The Pirates held a three game lead of the Cardinals on May 1st. That lead on June 1st is two games.
  • Coming into May, the Pirates were scoring 5.12 RPG, while giving up 4.36 RPG.
  • As of June 1st, they are scoring 4.77 RPG, while giving up 4.15 RPG. 
  • "Summer of Hanson" made a brief, three-game, appearance in Pittsburgh when Starling Marte left for paternity leave.
  • Oddly enough, a week later, Tony Watson also missed three days due to paternity leave.
  • Gregory Polanco arguably provided the best the offensive production during the month with six homers, including a grand-slam homer against the Miami Marlins on May 30th. He has eight homers on the year.
