The Clovers (piratemike recommendation) were one of the best selling groups of 1950s. Formed in 1946 they are still active with one member who joined in 1948. They had 3 number ones on the R&B chart and had a couple songs which made the pop chart. One Mint Julip has over 100 cover versions.
