Gary Wright was a child actor who turned to music after meeting Chris Blackwell of Island Records. Blackwell took Wright to London to form the group Spooky Tooth. After going solo he had two big hits and several other songs that made the charts in the 1970s and 1980s. He continued performing into the 2010s. Gary Wright died last week at age 80.
